Oakwood House is an off-grid home built almost entirely from site-sourced materials. A mass-timber structure with a CLT roof and glulam columns and beams supports walls of hemp block used internally and externally, creating a breathable, low-carbon envelope. The timber cladding comes from trees grown on the farm, reinforcing a closed-loop approach from landscape to building. A brickwork basement anchors the house into the sloping terrain. Powered by solar energy and supplied by a borehole with cartridge filtration and UV treatment, the home is complemented by an eco pool. Expansive openings frame panoramic views, seamlessly connecting the house to its surroundings.
